FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

1. How does it work with a travel agent?  What do you charge?

Most people don't realize but in most cases you get travel consultant services for FREE!  Meaning, the vendors that your journey is booked through pay me.  So,  if you book directly with vendors like Sandals, Viking, Globus or Carnival, your trip doesn't cost any less but what you don't get is the personalized customer service that Journeys by Design Travel and Tours prides itself in.

 

2. When is there a charge for your services?

Non Commissionable Products.  Even though the majority of request that come into the office are commissionable by vendors there are times that a service fee is required.  A service fee will be charged for anything that requires a vendor that doesn't pay commission to travel agents.  For example; airline tickets only (not in a package or associated directly with a trip booked by my office), some Bed and Breakfast, some small hotels, tours, show tickets, or excursions (not associated with a package booked by my office.)

 

Independent Travel.  Due to the time involved to customize an independent itinerary (one not associated with a tour) whether domestic or foreign there may be a deposit required.  The deposit will be applied to the booking when reservations are made.  The terms will be discussed during the consultation of  requested trip and a estimate of cost will be give prior to a fee being charged. 

 

I promise, it won't be a secret.   Although it's not possible to list every scenario here, don't be afraid to ask.  The times that a booking requires a service fee really are few and far between.
